Quinn grew-up with the love of horses in her blood as her mother, Kate, was an amateur eventer. She began taking hunter/jumper lessons at the age of 4 and competing at the age of 6, spending her entire junior career and beginning of her amateur years riding with and learning from Janet Salem and Lauren Kissel. With Patchwork Farm, she primarily competed in the pony and junior hunters, earning top 3 placings at Pony Finals, Devon, and all of the major indoor shows. In 2009, Quinn won the Georgia Hunter Jumper Association Pony Medal on her own Brownland's Miss Sissie as well as finishing in the top 20 of the USEF Pony Medal Final. In 2012, Quinn earned the USEF Horse of the Year National Championship for the 3'6 Small Juniors 15 & Under with her own Concierge and again in 2015 for the 3'6 Amateur Owner Hunters 18-35 with her own Zazou. During her last junior year, she stepped into the jumper ring, at which time, she qualified for and attended the Emerging Athletes Program National Finals in 2015 where she earned team gold in the Nations Cup competition.
Quinn attended Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating with Highest Honors and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2020. While in school, she continued competing up through the High AO jumpers and Grand Prix levels, earning top finishes across the east coast. Quinn was awarded the Champion Equine Insurance Jumper Style award at the Winter Equestrian Festival and in 2017, she earned both team and individual gold medals at the Zone 3/4 Jumper Team Championships in Culpeper, VA as well as an invitation to the USHJA Gold Star Clinic. During her time at Georgia Tech, Quinn was also a member of their IHSA Equestrian Team, serving as team captain for a year and president for two years. In 2018, she earned the Zone 5, Region 2 High Point Open Rider title, won the Zone 5 Cacchione Cup Qualifier, and competed in the Cacchione Cup at Nationals.
Quinn has ridden with and taken clinics from top professionals including Richard Spooner, Andrew Welles, Peter Wylde, Kim and Taylor Land, Rudy Leone, Jeff Cook, Geoff Teal, Scott Hofstetter, Eric Glynn, Stacia Madden, and Linda Allen. In 2020 and 2021, Quinn worked as the assistant trainer to Jan and Jill Humphrey at JH Sporthorses in Sacramento, CA. While in California, Quinn coached riders from short stirrup to the 3'6 equitation and hunters to 1.45m jumpers while competing in the upper level hunter and jumper classes. In addition to her success in the hunter/jumper world, Quinn began taking reining lessons and eventually purchased a reining horse, Wimpy's Yellow Jacket, to compete on. She enjoyed learning the ins and outs of this new discipline and found the cross training to be beneficial and educational.
After 2 years in California, Quinn moved back to Georgia to work for Janet Salem and Lauren Kissel as assistant trainer at Patchwork Farm. At Patchwork, Quinn developed a jumper program with students competing in the Child/Adult and Junior/Amateur Jumper divisions. She also coaches students from the short stirrup on the Local GHJA circuit to the 3'6 Hunters and Equitation at USEF National Finals. At Patchwork, Quinn won her first Grand Prix at the Aiken Spring Classic on Nestledown's Olympia Van Het Eikenhof and qualified for and competed in the WCHR Developing Professional Final at Capital Challenge on Rebecca Love's Taxi Boy. In addition to training and riding, Quinn started importing and developing young hunters and jumpers through a friend in Europe. In late 2022, she imported a 5 year older hunter that sold in early 2023 along with a coming 5 year older hunter for a client, a coming 7 year old jumper for herself, and a coming 6 yo equitation horse for another client. Quinn enjoys the entire process of meticulously selecting the right horses, starting their careers in the United States, and selling them to the right programs
Kate grew up loving horses. At age 8, she convinced her parents to sign her up for riding lessons and she was instantly hooked. They eventually purchased her first horse, Granada Gold aka "Goldie", and together they competed in Pony Club and local competitions. Kate attended Penn State University and rode on their equestrian team. After college, she took a short break from riding before stepping back into eventing. She competed her horse, Hideaway's CrackerJack, through training level.
After having Quinn and getting her into the Hunter/Jumper world, Kate stayed in the tack by keeping Quinn's ponies ridden. This eventually led to her working for Janet Salem and Lauren Kissel as both a rider and book keeper for over 10 years. While Quinn was a junior, Kate established Nestledown as her equestrian LLC for the buying and selling of Quinn's horses. In 2015, the Larimer Family starting building Nestledown Farm and in 2017 moved the horses in to be fully operational. Since then, Quinn and Kate have turned Nestledown Equine Services LLC into a sales and import business.
Now, Kate manages Nestledown and its logistics in addition to still riding some. She keeps the business and daily operations running smoothly!
Eloise is a 2017, cream, French Bulldog. She has more personality than should be able to fit in her potato-like body. Eloise is sassy and opinionated but loves her people more than anything else in the world. She has been a horse show pup from day one, having traveled to Ocala with us when she was just 7 weeks old! Now when she sees the horse trailer hooked up to get packed, she insists that she is the first one to be put in the truck so no one forgets her.
In addition to going to horse shows, Eloise loves to hike and play in the water. She loves sweet potatoes and comes running for a snack when she hears the knife start chopping veggies on the cutting board.
